The Brief
An international travel partner approached Towaka to support a tailor-made honeymoon for two clients travelling to Japan.
Both travellers were architects with a strong interest in design, architecture, art, and Japanese culture. Japan had long been somewhere they hoped to experience, and their honeymoon offered a rare opportunity to make the journey particularly meaningful.
The partner needed a trusted Japan-side team that could translate those interests into a coherent itinerary, coordinate the journey locally, and remain available while the clients were travelling.
The objective was not simply to assemble accommodation and transportation. It was to create a journey that felt personal, culturally grounded, comfortable to navigate, and responsive to the couple themselves.

How Towaka Shaped the Journey
Character-Led Stays
Accommodation was treated as part of the journey's narrative rather than simply somewhere to sleep.
In Tokyo, K5 was selected for its design character and urban context. In Kyoto, Sowaka offered a contrasting expression of place through its relationship with traditional architecture and the surrounding historic district.
Together, the stays reflected the couple's professional interest in design while giving each city a distinct atmosphere.
A Journey That Could Respond
As the couple's interests became clearer, Naoshima was incorporated into the programme as an art- and architecture-focused extension.
Adding it was not simply a matter of placing another destination on the route. Towaka considered timing, onward movement, luggage, accommodation, and the couple's international departure before confirming that the extension could be experienced without creating unnecessary travel pressure.
The result was a journey that remained structured but not rigid: the original plan provided continuity, while Japan-side coordination made a meaningful adjustment possible.
Comfort Through Operational Detail
Particular attention was given to the final stages of the journey. The couple's luggage was forwarded from Kyoto to their last hotel near Narita Airport, allowing them to travel more comfortably during the regional extension.
When conflicting local information created uncertainty about the luggage collection date, Towaka contacted the hotel directly, clarified the arrangement, and confirmed the correct procedure with the travellers.
One suitcase was sent ahead while the couple retained the other. The solution was deliberately simple, preserving both convenience and peace of mind.
On-the-Ground Support
Towaka remained in direct contact with the travellers through WhatsApp, in line with the travel partner's preferred way of working.
Ahead of key transfers and guide meetings, the travellers received timely reminders and practical information. Behind the scenes, Towaka coordinated with hotels and local suppliers whenever an arrangement required confirmation or adjustment.
This meant that small operational issues could be resolved quickly, without becoming a defining part of the honeymoon itself.
The Outcome
The journey was completed successfully, including the addition of Naoshima and the revised luggage arrangements for the final stage.
For the travel partner, the outcome was practical: their clients could continue the honeymoon with confidence, while Japan-side questions and adjustments were handled locally and communicated clearly. The travel partner remained the clients' primary point of contact throughout.
Following the journey, the partner expressed interest in working with Towaka again.
